Correspondent Russia Iris de Graaf:
The Kremlin continues to blame Ukraine and the west for the food crisis – Ukrainian naval mines would block exports, not Russia.
That while Russian warships have been blocking grain exports through Ukrainian ports on the Black Sea for weeks.
Earlier this week, Putin even said he was willing to allow ships with grain to sail out of Ukraine if the West lifts many of the sanctions. A proposal that is seen in the west as blackmail.
Putin seems hopeful that a food crisis could divide the West in how hard they stick to those sanctions. And it illustrates that Putin is now also using food as a weapon in battle.
