Putin: Biden’s relationship with US worst in years

Russian President Putin has said that since Joe Biden became US president, relations between the two countries have not been this bad in a long time. Putin made the statement during an interview with NBC News, the day before his meeting with Biden in Geneva. “We have a bilateral relationship that has bottomed out in recent years,” Putin said.

Putin was again asked about an interview with the US president in March in which he called Putin a murderer. Putin said he had heard dozens of such accusations. “This is something I’m not worried about in the least,” Putin said.

Furthermore, during the NBC interview, it was also about Biden’s predecessor Trump. The Russian president praised him as a “colorful and talented person. Otherwise he would not have become president.” He does hope that Biden will be less impulsive than Trump.

Biden embarked on his first European trip this week. Biden and Putin will meet on Wednesday in the Swiss city. The White House has said that their conversation will include cyber attacks that Russia is accused of and the incarceration of dissidents such as Alexei Navalny.

On the issue of recent cyberattacks on US governments and businesses, Putin said those reports of Russian involvement are false. He denied having any knowledge of those attacks.

The interview with Putin will be broadcast in the US on Monday and lasts about an hour and a half.
