Russian dictator Vladimir Putin has entrusted the former aide of Wagner mercenary gang leader Yevgeny Prigozhin to supervise Russian militia units in Ukraine, the Kremlin announced on Friday.

Putin entrusted Andrey Troshev with overseeing the formation of so-called volunteer units for various tasks, but mainly for the war in Ukraine.

Deputy Minister of Defense Yunusbek Yevkurov was also present when Putin received Troshev, and the main topic of the conversation was the integration of “Wagner” fighters into the Russian regular army after Prigozhin’s coup attempt in June.

Prigozhin died along with nine other people when his plane was shot down on August 23, and is believed to have been eliminated by Putin’s regime’s security services.
