The leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia have agreed on a joint declaration on the Karabakh region, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced after a trilateral meeting between them in Sochi on Monday.
“In our common opinion, this was a very fruitful meeting. In my opinion, it created an excellent atmosphere for possible future agreements on some fundamental issues,” Putin said in a statement, after concluding the meeting with its Azerbaijani counterpart. Putin added that the two sides cannot agree on everything regarding Nagorno-Karabakh.
According to him, the leaders agreed on a joint statement on the Nagorno-Karabakh region, and Putin noted that the summit showed that the two sides can agree on the future, everyone is interested in the normalization of relations.
The Russian president stressed that his country will do everything to reach a definitive agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
He said the Russian Federation remains in contact with Azerbaijan and Armenia to continue the dialogue and put an end to the regional conflict.
Earlier, Putin held bilateral talks with the Armenian Prime Minister, stressing that guaranteeing peace and stability in Nagorno-Karabakh is a “critical issue”.
