President Vladimir Putin has announced an all-Russian mobilization on the eve of a new wave of coronavirus caused by the Omicron strain.
He began his first meeting with the government of the Russian Federation in 2022 on the fight against coronavirus. “She is not giving us peace. “Not only to us, but to the whole world,” the president said.

As of January 12, 698 cases of Omicron infection have been registered in Russia, Golikova said. Most of the patients are residents of Moscow. The Deputy Prime Minister noted that “obviously the capital region will suffer the first blow from the spread of the new strain.” According to Golikova, the government will finalize a set of measures to counter Omicron within days.
Under these conditions, the hospital network and industry – pharmaceutical companies, manufacturers of medical oxygen and personal protective equipment – must be ready for a new wave, said President Putin. He also instructed the regions to increase the volume of coronavirus tests and vaccination rates.
