President Russia Vladimir Putin met directly with the President Because Miguel Diaz-Canel who is visiting Moscow this week. Both have decided to unite to face their common enemy, United States of America (USA) and condemned Western sanctions against both countries.
As reported AFP extensionOn Wednesday (11/23/2022), Putin praised the decades-long friendship between Russia and Cuba. He also said that the two countries need to further increase cooperation.
Putin is known to be trying to steer Russia’s axis away from the West after ordering military troops to Ukraine in late February. A flurry of Western sanctions has rained down on Moscow since the invasion was launched.
“We have always been against all kinds of restrictions, embargoes, blockades and so on,” Putin told Diaz-Canel at a meeting in the Kremlin on Tuesday (11/22) local time.
During the meeting, Putin also welcomed Havana’s support for Moscow in the international arena.
Diaz-Canel said in a statement that the visit to Moscow had “profound” significance.
“First, it comes at a time when both countries – Russia and Cuba – are subject to constant unjust and arbitrary sanctions, and have a common enemy, the Yankee empire that manipulates most of the world,” Diaz-Canel while he was in the Kremlin.
Diaz-Canel also stressed that Cuba supports Russia in confrontation with the West. You have invited Moscow to stand still.
