In the previous version of the law, police could enter homes to detain suspects in a crime. In the new edition, they received the right to detain those who were suspected of a crime only from the words of the victims and eyewitnesses.
The document allows police officers to open cars to save lives and ensure safety in the event of emergencies or riots. It can also be done to detain suspects or defendants, or when a terrorist attack is threatened.
Also, the wording on the observance and respect of human rights and freedoms has been changed, in some paragraphs the word “must” has been removed. For example, in paragraph 3 of the law in the previous version sounded as follows: “A police officer is obliged to suppress actions that intentionally inflict pain, physical or mental suffering on a citizen.” In the new version, the wording is changed to “suppress”.
