Vladimir Putin delivered his first speech after the victory of Donald Trump in the US elections on Thursday (7/11) at the Valdai Forum in the resort of Sochi.
As already announced, the Russian president did not refer to the political developments in the USA, but made a more general comment on what is happening on the planet.
“An entirely new world order is taking shape before our eyes. The moment of truth is coming, the old order is gone, an irreconcilable war is being waged to shape a new one. Looking back over the past 20 years and considering the scale of change, and then projecting those changes into the coming years, one would assume that the next two decades will be at least as difficult, if not more so. Russia does not see the western culture as the enemy”he said characteristically.
The Kremlin’s comment on Trump and the war in Ukraine
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said today that the Russian leadership remembers Trump’s words about trying to resolve the crisis in Ukraine even if he exaggerates how quickly he could do so.
“If the new government seeks peace and not the continuation of the war, it will be better than the previous one,” Peskov told reporters.
Asked about Kamala Harris’ warning that Putin would eat Trump for lunch, Peskov laughed: “Putin doesn’t eat people.”
