Putin Accuses West of Terror, Trying to Destroy Russia

Moscow

President Russia Vladimir Putin accusing Western countries of terror and seeking to destroy Russia. Putin demanded Russian prosecutors to crack down on what he called a plot orchestrated by foreign spies to divide Russia and discredit his country’s military.

As reported ReutersTuesday (26/4/2022), Putin said this while speaking before Russia’s top prosecutors and Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu on Monday (25/4) local time.

Putin accused the West of inciting Ukraine to plan attacks on Russian journalists. The allegations have been denied by Ukrainian authorities.

It is claimed by Putin that the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB), which is the successor to the Soviet-era KGB, prevented the attempted assassination by a “terrorist group” of a Russian television journalist named Vladimir Solovyev on Monday (25/4) local time.

“They have moved to terror — to prepare for the murder of our journalists,” Putin said, referring to Western countries.

However, Putin, who is a former KGB agent, did not provide concrete evidence to support his claim. Reuters could not immediately verify Putin’s allegations.

FSB chief Alexander Bortnikov separately said a group of six Russian neo-nationalists had planned to kill Solovyev on orders from the Ukrainian State Security Service (SBU). Solovyev is called one of Russia’s leading television and radio journalists.
