MADRID, 28 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Spanish internationals and FC Barcelona players Alexia Putellas, Jenni Hermoso, Irene Paredes and Sandra Paños aspire this Monday to win the first Spanish Ballon d’Or in the women’s category, in a ceremony organized by France Football magazine at the Châtelet theater in Paris ( 20.00 hours / MEGA).
After a year deserted by the coronavirus pandemic, the award seeks a successor to its last owner, the American Megan Rapinoe, who this time is not among the nominees. Now, up to four Spaniards and five Catalans are among the 20 candidates.
Blaugrana captain Alexia Putellas, along with goalkeeper Sandra Paños, forward Jennifer Hermoso and midfielder Irene Paredes, signed for this season, are the Spanish who choose to be crowned. Along with them his Dutch partner Lieke Martens, who together with Putellas and Hermoso, also aspires.
The absence in that list of 20 candidates of the Spanish Aitana Bonmatí, of the best Barça Femení players who last year achieved the ‘Champions’ and the treble, is surprising. Another notable absence, thinking of Blaugrana and the current European champion team, is that of Norway’s Caroline Hansen.
El resto de nominadas son Magdalena Eriksson, Marie-Antoinette Katoto, Sam Kerr, Stina Blackstenius, Wendie Renard, Samantha Mewis, Pernile Harder, Vivianne Miedema, Jessi Fleming, Ashley Lawrence, Christine Sinclair, Ellen White, Christiane Endler, Fran Kirby y Kadidiatou Diani.
