It’s confirmed! Alexia Putellas, the best player in the world in 2021, will miss the European Championship in England, which starts this Wednesday.
In a statement, the Spanish Football Federation (RFE) advances that the Barcelona footballer suffered a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in her left knee, confirming a scenario still more serious than was initially expected.
Putellas is due to be operated on soon and is now facing a period of rehabilitation lasting several months.
Spain will make its debut at the Women’s European Championship on July 8 against Finland, one of the opponents in Group B, which also includes Germany and Denmark.
