Pushing politically charged posts into the background: top model Bella Hadid says Instagram is “shadowbanting” her

The Dutch-Palestinian is not ready for her test. In addition to photos of her modeling work, she has often posted images and videos showing the situation in the Palestinian territories. Hadid, daughter of Palestinian real estate magnate Mohamed Hadid, often uses her platform to denounce injustice in the Middle East. She has also been an open supporter of the American civil rights movement Black Lives Matter.

But that attitude is not to the liking of Instagram, Hadid claims. Not long after her post, she posted some thoughts in her stories (a feature that lets you edit and add photos or short videos and then disappear after 24 hours, ed.). “Here we go again”, it sounds. “Instagram is blocking me from posting stories – almost only when it’s about Palestine, I suppose. Whenever I post about Palestine, I immediately get geshadowbanned and 1 million less people see my posts and stories.”
