LONDON – The pressure of celestial gases has trapped Earth in a giant magnetic circle along with its nearest star. This could be a confusing phenomenon even for astronomers.
As reported by Live Science, research from a group of professionals named Jennifer West of the Dunlap Institute for Astronomy and Astrophysics, University of Toronto.
In her journal, Jennifer West writes about North Polar Spur and Fan Region. Both are the brightest radio-emitting gas structures in the galaxy.

He revealed, there are two structures that are connected even though they are on different sides of the sky.
“If we looked up at the sky, we would see these tunnel-like structures in almost every direction we looked, which is if we had eyes that could see radio light,” West said.
The research team says there is a known curved corner made of charged particles and magnetic fields, resembling a long, thin string jutting out of the North Polar Spur and Fan Region.
Not only can a cosmic rope connect two regions, but it can also form something akin to a ‘curved tunnel’ where the path is like ‘a line formed by tunnel lights and path markers’.
With this finding, the team of astronomers predicts that our solar system and the Milky Way are in a giant magnetic tunnel.
The North Polar Spur appears as a large yellow cloud that stretches over the earth. The cloud is a giant collection of gas that emits X-rays and radio waves. In that part there is a fan region that produces a lot of polarized radio waves.
Although these unusual regions of space have been discovered since the 1960s, scientific understanding of these findings remains uneven. Most of the previous studies described each structure separately.
However, by incorporating data from radio wave observations into the new computational model, West and his colleagues might map the length and position of the giant rope. The model estimates the length of the rope to be about 1,000 light-years and the structure is most likely about 350 light-years from the solar system.
West says his modeling inspiration came when he was a student, when he saw vines on his first radio sky map monitoring. A few years later, he was told of a 1965 paper that hypothesized a strange radio signal.
