The past few days have been nervous for the purple and whites. Following the weakness of the team and the brilliant series of Kisvárda, they could prepare for the weekend round in such a way that if Újpest scores more points than Kisvárda, the counting ends and the Nyírség club’s farewell from the top league becomes official. Well, it turned out that the Várda team played the match against the Puskás Academy in Felcsút already in the early afternoon, so the purple and whites entered the field knowing that their rival had lost, and that even with a single point, their membership in the league would be certain.

Even the teams fighting for the podium could envy the kind of support that Újpest, which was running away from relegation and had been sick for weeks, received: the camp behind the goal was full, there were far fewer seats than usual in the side sectors, and the spectators created a real football atmosphere in the arena. Undoubtedly, this also played a role in the fact that Újpest started the match as well as it hasn’t in a long time – less than ten minutes into the match, and they already led by two goals. The Újpest, which marched two screening midfielders in front of the four defenders, but Mátyás Tajti and Ognjen Radosevics also got to the goal, joined the four attackers in front of them many times, that is, they appeared in large numbers in the front of the Diósgyőr penalty area. Apparently, the Borsod team didn’t give up on the offensive game either, Gergő Holdampf was positioned in front of the defensive line, and two strikers were included in the starting team – but we didn’t see any sign of the guest attacks dreamed up on the tactical board for a long time. First, Kevin Csoboth returned a short ball to the front of the goal and Ognjen Radosevics took the lead from close range. Perhaps there is no need to detail the euphoria that followed the goal, as the fans knew well, in principle, a draw would be enough… But there was no question of the home team slowing down, their next free kick also ended with a goal, when Abubakar Keita headed into the net.

The stadium exploded!

It took twenty minutes to record the first dangerous attack in Díosgyőr, but twenty-year-old Geiger brilliantly saved Bálin from Díosgyőr’s forwards. However, this was only a one-time flare-up on the part of the guests, because not long after, after the VAR investigation, Újpest was able to kick a penalty, and Heinz Mörschel he didn’t make a mistake, and before the break Matija Ljujics twisted spectacularly into the upper right corner: the score was 4–0 in the first half!

The joy of the hosts could not be unclouded, because Dávid Banai limped into the dressing room and came out in civilian clothes, in addition, we recorded four more substitutions during the break of the match – the DVTK coach could have called all his players off the field…

In the first minutes of the second half, if not for long, DVTK seemed like an equal opponent, but Csoboth Kevin he was just waiting for the guests’ protection to relax a bit. The team from Diósgyőr tried to score a goal of honor, pushing their defense even higher, but the applicant for the European Championship Csoboth he was grateful for the opportunity, he dangled twice in two minutes and – taking advantage of the large area in front of him – ended the campaign with a goal both times. He sent the ball into the net first smartly and then powerfully, with which Újpest already led by six goals.

What has the team done so far if it can play football like this? In addition, Csoboth, who had already scored two goals by that time, sprinted backwards to mount his opponent from Díosgyőr, and this willful movement received almost as much applause as the six goals up to that point.

Until the final whistle, only the goal difference could be in question, because everyone had answers to the important questions. After all, Újpest 7–0s victory, he maintained his membership in the top league.
