A special event delighted visitors in Weiden last Sunday: “Pure Bavarian” was the motto in Max Reger Park, where the Cultural Office organized a unique serenade. In glorious sunshine, guests were treated to a humorous and musical program of the highest order. Josef “Bäff” Piendl and the Tanngrindler musicians, both names known from television and radio, ensured a lively atmosphere and top-notch entertainment.

The event began dynamically with a two-part song called “Friedl-Girgl” and heated up the atmosphere with a lively march to get everyone clapping along. The high level of interest and sympathy for the Hemau musicians was reflected in the great number of visitors, despite the summer temperatures. “Bäff” Piendl took the audience’s hearts by storm by pulling out all the stops of humor in Bavarian dialect. His ditties and songs caused laughter and a great atmosphere among the audience.

Unforgettable moments with “Bäff” and the Tanngrindler musicians

Piendl impressed not only with his music, but also with his spontaneous actions and reactions to unplanned events. There were unforgettable moments when he identified a visitor with an elegant hat as “Queen Mam” or praised another for her pink “Barbie” look. Even the return of a pair of panties to a visitor caused humorous interruptions.

The Tanngrindler Musikanten, the musical flagship of Upper Palatinate, showed once again why they have been a fixture in the regional music scene since their foundation in 1970. The cultivation of dance floor music is at the heart of their work, which was reflected in a lively and authentic performance in Max-Reger-Park.

Interaction with the audience

Bäff’s talent for reacting spontaneously to people and situations was particularly evident when he moved through the audience accompanied by Frieder Roßkopf’s talent as a bandleader, skillfully “annoying” people time and again. His interactive interludes with the audience, such as the humorous “lending” of a lollipop to a little princess, made the performance an unforgettable experience.

Finally, it should not go unmentioned that Mayor Reinhold Wildenauer tried his hand at conducting the Tanngrindler musicians and led them through the program without making any mistakes. With songs like “Der alte Bauernboda” and various marches and polkas, a day full of music, humor and Bavarian joie de vivre came to an end. The visitors gave the performances a big round of applause, confirming the success of this cultural treat in Weiden.
