The purchasing power of the Dutch population increased by 1.3 percent in 2019, according to figures from the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) on Tuesday.
This means a greater increase in purchasing power than in the previous two years. In 2019, the disposable income of Dutch households amounted to an average of 36,365 euros.
Purchasing power growth in 2019 was strongest among employees (2.5 percent), while pensioners also benefited for the first time in two years.
The positive purchasing power development is partly the result of the largest collective wage increase in ten years. Various tax measures also had a positive effect on the purchasing power of many Dutch people last year.
