Pupils with disabilities deprived of school transport in Eure-et-Loir

He doesn’t get angry. Lionel Gugliermini, resident of Gommerville, father of Ewan, 10, and Elen, 11, two children in wheelchairs, could only count on his day off to drive his son to school in Châtenay , and his daughter at the college of Toury.

Since the start of the school year, he has had no news, like many other parents, of the company responsible for transporting their children to school. A very complicated situation which leaves them in the dark. “I tried to call several times, but their voicemail is full,” he says. Children are deprived of their fundamental right to education ”.

The same goes for Stéphanie Ricolleau, from Châtenay, whose son Kyllian is educated in Toury:

“I also took him on Thursday, otherwise he wouldn’t have been able to make his comeback. I was still on vacation, but I’m going back to work on Monday and I have no solution ”.

The transport of students with disabilities is the responsibility of the Departmental Council of Eure-et-Loir, which has delegated this mission to the Departmental House of Autonomy (MDA). 400 Euréliens are affected by this system.

On its website, the Department recognizes “serious dysfunctions”. At the origin of the difficulties, a change of service provider, installed in the Paris region, appointed at the beginning of the summer, to provide this transport.

“The previous deal has come to an end. The MDA put out a call for tenders and one candidate was selected on June 21. Work began immediately to organize the start of the new school year, ”explains Thomas Bourdet, director in charge of autonomy at the Departmental Council of Eure-et-Loir.

“The priority is to allow the children to be taken care of next week”

The provider must ensure the transport of children, but not only. “The company is also responsible for organizing circuits and providing drivers and vehicles”, specifies Thomas Bourdet.
The MDA was only informed on Wednesday 1 September that the company “could only honor a small part of the transport”.

“We are looking at all the solutions. The priority is to allow the children to be taken care of next week. “
