The aim is “step by step to get more possibilities to offer face-to-face education”, says Weyts. That will only be possible if the corona figures do not suddenly turn bad, the minister emphasizes. “Nor is it a return to normalcy: strict security measures still have to be observed inside and outside the school walls.”
The GO! Education of the Flemish Community also points out that schools must follow all safety measures “thoroughly”. “We hope that the perspective of better times in a broader society will motivate people to persevere for a while”, says managing director Raymonda Verdyck. She is satisfied that all students have the prospect of full-time contact education. “That is so incredibly important for the well-being and learning motivation of our students.”
Weyts again calls for education staff to give priority to vaccination. “Education is an essential sector and the teaching staff fulfill a crucial task,” he argues.
