Khimki midfielder Ayaz Guliyev told “Match TV”, which in the near future may discuss the change of sports citizenship with the Azerbaijan Football Federation.

“I didn’t say yes or no to Azerbaijan. There are a lot of things that need to be discussed. I hear it all the time, we are waiting and we need to discuss it. Maybe we will soon discuss the transition,” Guliyev said.

The football player noted that he does not exclude the change of citizenship, but “not because of the current situation.” “This has been talked about for a long time. But if I understand that, becoming a legionnaire, it will be harder to compete in the RPL, that will be another moment, ”he added.

When asked why he still thinks about changing citizenship, Guliyev replied: “First of all, I am an Azerbaijani. But if this is a minus in a club career, then the transition is not worth it. After all, if you don’t play in the club, you won’t get into the national team, then the meaning of the transition disappears. ”

Guliyev is 26 years old. He is a graduate of Spartak Moscow, he moved to Khimki last summer from Arsenal Tula. This season, he played 20 matches for the Moscow Region club in all competitions and scored one assist.

The football player was born in Moscow, but has Azerbaijani roots. He played for the youth and youth teams of Russia.
