Puntulis apologizes for the delay in the payment of scholarships – in Latvia

In response to the public outrage expressed by several artists on social networks about the delay of the State Culture Capital Fund scholarships, Minister of Culture Nauris Puntulis has issued an order to immediately prepare the necessary documentation to decide on the allocation of funding to be paid to the State Culture Capital Fund (SCCF) for the 2nd competition scholarship holders of the personal employment program.

The Minister also apologized on behalf of the Ministry of Culture to the SCCF program scholarship holders for delaying the payment of scholarships on his social network “Facebook” account:

“On behalf of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Latvia, I apologize to the creative persons for the situation that has arisen and the inconvenience caused. Creative support will be seen in their accounts in mid-August. ”

It will be recalled that today the SCCF sent a letter to scholarship holders to inform that funding for creative persons has not been paid for reasons beyond the Fund’s control, ie the SCCF has not received the necessary funds, The letter noted that the relevant decision of the Cabinet of Ministers is expected at the August 10 meeting, and this funding could enter the SCCF account and will be disbursed at the end of August.

The SCCF also explained that the support program is financed from the state budget program “Implementation of SCCF programs and projects”, from the additional allocated CF funds to reduce the negative impact of the Covid-19 crisis on the cultural sector.

The SCCF emphasized that, taking into account that additional funding for the CFR should be allocated from the state budget program “Contingency Funds”, the support will be paid as soon as the Cabinet order on such funds is adopted. has informed the Budget and Finance Committee of the Saeima in accordance with the procedures specified in the acts regarding changes in the appropriation in accordance with the provisions of the order.
