Latvian hockey national team candidate Ivars Punnenovs has received several offers and is currently thinking about where to continue his professional career, according to information available in the media “Swiss Hockey News”.

Next summer, the 26-year-old goalkeeper will end his current contract with the Swiss National League (NLA) club Langnau “Tigers”, but offers have already been made to him.

“Swiss Hockey News” writes that Punnenov has recently had talks with “Bern” unit manager Florence Shelling, however, it is not the only club that is interested in Latvians. No more information is available on which league clubs they are.

Meanwhile, Tigers manager Mark Eichmann has revealed that he is ready to do everything in his power to keep Punnenov in the team.

The two leading strikers Chris DiDomenico and Hari Pesonen have left the Tigers team, and Punennov is now considered the team’s biggest star. The Latvian has said that the decision is not only up to him, because he will also consult his wife about it.

Punnenov has played his entire career in Switzerland, where he began his professional career at the Pikes Oberthurgau U17 youth team. He has been representing the Tigers since 2015, and the Swiss media estimates that he is the highest paid in the team.

Punnenovs was also a participant in the Latvian U17, U18 and U20 national teams. He has also represented the main team, but Punnenov has not been lucky that Latvia has a number of strong goalkeepers in recent years, so it is very difficult to say. He has to compete with such puck catchers as Krister Gudļevski, Jānis Kalniņš, Elvis Merzļikins and now also Matīss Kivlenieks, who has just entered the National Hockey League (NHL).
