Punishment treatment of Alonso and Hamilton

Motorsports- Magazin.com – Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton will meet again in Formula 1 in 2021, at least somewhere on the starting list for the Grand Prix. The two are unlikely to meet on the track while the Spaniard is stuck in midfield with the Alps. It’s a shame, because wherever this duo gathered, entertainment was always provided in the past. For example, at the 2011 Malaysian Grand Prix, which ended with penalties for both fighters.

It was the duel between Lewis Hamilton (McLaren) and Fernando Alonso (Ferrari) that made the 2011 Malaysian Prize so special. As Sebastian Vettel headed towards a sure victory for Red Bull, Hamilton and Alonso continued to get closer at various stages of the race.

Towards the end of the race, that moment came again – it seemed like the Spaniard had finally managed to break through his McLaren opponent. Hamilton struggled with hard tires. Alonso kept catching up. But the Ferrari driver also had to struggle with a mortgage. The DRS failed with him.

After Hamilton previously defended himself by changing lanes several times, the Ferrari driver made a mistake when trying to overtake. It swerved too late and got stuck on Hamilton’s rear tire and damaged the front wing, which then had to be changed.

After the race, the referees sanctioned both drivers: Hamilton for a multi-lane change, Alonso for a collision that could have been avoided.

Zonta’s accident in Sao Paulo was not the only serious accident for him in the 1999 season. He rolled over in training for the Belgian GP champion at Eau Rouge and got stuck in piles of tires. Then he was able to participate in the race.
