Pune Rail Division uses German technology to increase train speed

In order to increase the speed of the trains, the Pune Railway Division is building a German technology railway line “R260”.

The new technology will double the Pune-Satara route.

These new technological rails are manufactured in the steelworks of the Steel Authority of India (SAI).

The tracks are stronger and of better quality than the previous railroad tracks. Therefore, the operation of double-decker freight trains on these tracks will be advantageous in the future.

Indian Railways regularly receives railroad tracks from SII. For fast speeds, the quality of the routes is equally important.

Currently, India uses the UDS 90 and 80 grades which are used on moving trains. The new R260 standard rails are made of an alloy.

“The new German technology of the R260 tracks is to be used to double the running tracks in the railway section of Pune. These tracks are 260 meters long and of better quality than the previous tracks, ”said the deputy chief engineer of the Pune Railway Division SK

As the speed of the trains increases, it will definitely shorten the travel time of passengers.

“It’s good to hear that the railways are switching to new and improved technologies for the safety and wellbeing of passengers. At the same time, they should take care of the cost and not increase the passenger ticket, ”regular passenger told Kalapana Jumble.
