Punch Powertrain, a manufacturer of transmissions for the vehicle industry in Sint-Truiden, is getting a new CEO. Sébastien Mazoyer succeeds Jorge Solis, who is stepping down for personal reasons, at the helm of the company.

Production of a new gearbox for hybrid and plug-in hybrid vehicles from the Stellantis group (Opel, Peugeot, Citroën, Jeep, Fiat…) started last week at Punch Powertrain. Once at cruising speed, factories in France and Italy will produce 1.2 million transmissions annually. The Punch Powertrain site in Sint-Truiden occupies a crucial place in this. Both the development and production of crucial components takes place in Limburg.

With the start of production of the new gearbox, several years of great uncertainty come to an end. “After careful consideration and dialogue with the shareholders, it has been decided that now is the right time to hand over leadership,” Punch Powertrain said in a press release. Jorge Solis succeeded the charismatic CEO Cor van Otterloo, who passed away in 2019, and guided the company through a period of great difficulties.

Rich experience

Jorge Solis is succeeded by Sébastien Mazoyer, who previously worked at Punch as Chief Sales and Marketing Officer and as Head of Business Unit of Electric Vehicles. He therefore knows the company through and through and has a wealth of experience in the automotive sector. Before joining Punch Powertrain, he worked at BorgWarner and Valeo, which means he also knows the automotive sector well.

“I am honored to take on this position and excited to lead the company in its transition to sustainable mobility,” said the new CEO. “Our focus is on delivering high quality, innovative powertrain solutions at an affordable price, starting with the successful launch of our new hybrid and electric products.”
