Pumas women beat Puebla 2-1 with a double from Aerial Chavarin

Mexico City. With a double from Aerial Chavarin, Pumas beat Puebla 2-1 and returned to winning ways in the Apertura 2024 tournament of the Liga Mx Femenil, this Saturday in a matchday 7, played at the Olympic University Stadium.

Chavarin’s goals came in the 6th and 40th minutes. Johana Rosas scored for La Franja in the 48th minute.

Thanks to this result, the UNAM team accumulated 15 points and remained in the top spots of the general classification, while the Puebla team, which has not yet won in the current competition, remained in 17th place, with just two points.

The university students started the match with great intensity, and in just six minutes they surprised their rival with the first goal by Chavarin, who headed in a cross from the right to put the score at 1-0.

Faced with Pumas’ early goal, the Puebla squad reacted and also began to create danger in the auriazul area; however, the feline goalkeeper, Wendy Toledo, was able to contain the attacks.

It was not until the 40th minute that Pumas managed to increase their scoring share. In a play identical to that of the first goal, Chavarin scored the 2-0 before the break.

The team from Puebla managed to reduce the gap on the scoreboard at the start of the second half, in the 48th minute, thanks to a goal from Rosas, who with a cross shot made it 2-1.

After the visitors’ goal, both teams showed much more determination, so the match became tense and was interrupted on several occasions due to various fouls.

In the final stretch, at 90+2, Puebla was left with one less player after Bárbara Murillo was sent off for a strong foul on Carina Felipe, and due to the numerical disadvantage, they were unable to rescue the tie in the final minutes, thus suffering their fifth defeat in the current tournament.
