Pulse, Culture | Aleksander on the leadership role: – A hell of a job

On Sunday, we could see Aleksander Sæterstøl from Hordvik fight through an ax throwing competition against Espen Lervaag.

The Bergenseren moved on after the first week of “Farmen Kjendis”, and will thus be seen when it is ready for a new week and a new big farmer.

Espen had agreed in advance that he would choose Alexander as big farmer, and so it turned out.

– I have never been the leader of anything before. I don’t take it too seriously, but a little as it comes, says a smiling Sæterstøl.

– No sick leave

When we talk to him a few months after the recording, he says that he doesn’t remember much from when he was a large farmer.

Has he repressed it all?

– That was tiresome. You should have responsibility and control, but I really liked that part, he says to BA.

It was a massive week-long mission for the big farmer to lead. The gang was to make Swiss cheese, establish a field with 2,000 cabbage plants, and build a wash house and a semi-automatic wooden washing machine.

– The weekly assignment was absolutely amazing. It was a lot in seven days, a hell of a job. It was absolutely sick. Fortunately, there were some who were super committed, he says.

The Bergen resident says that he had to bring his experience from working life into the role of large farmer.

– What is certain and certain is that you must not burn out. There was a lot to do and a lot of new things in the first week. The second week there was even more to do, and little food. That’s why I decided that we should introduce midday naps, he says, and elaborates:

– You can’t be sick in 1920. I was afraid the others would get tired, so I introduced that everyone should collect energy. I would rather people be happy and have a desire to work, rather than being sad and tired.

Name root

Säteststøl entered the competition with an open mind. After getting over the problem in the first week, which he refers to as detoxification both digitally and in terms of foodstuffs such as sugar, he was eager to do his best on the farm.

Early in the episode on Tuesday, it emerges that he is a bit bitter that the former big farmer Ørnulf Høyer chose him to be the first champion in the first week.

– I will take revenge on Uglleulf, Ugluff, Ulføy, Øyulf, what was his name again? The name is so difficult, no one has that name. Øyluff or Uggulf? I don’t think it’s allowed to call one’s children actually, says Sætestøl, who really means Ørnulf Høyer.

When BA reminds him of this, he laughs, adding that he managed to learn the name in the end.

Further on in the episode, we can see that the large farmer’s slightly lax leadership style causes several of the participants to be afraid of not being able to complete the weekly assignment.

It remains to be seen on Sunday whether the Bergensen can do the job or not.
