Pulmonologist: Do not treat COVID-19 with antibiotics – Around the world and in our country

The large number of patients with the Delta variant of COVID-19 again gives the floor to experts. How to properly treat ourselves if we become infected or how to protect ourselves – in the studio of “Speak Now” the topic was commented by the pulmonologist Dr. Sofia Angelova.

“I am currently treating patients in pre-hospital care, most of whom have been vaccinated, and colleagues in hospital care say that their patients are unvaccinated. The conclusion is that the vaccine protects against serious illness but does not protect against infection,” she explained.

According to her, the anti-epidemic measures must be observed, because it seems that we have turned our backs on them a bit while the virus is circulating. If patients in pre-hospital care are treated properly, there will be less deterioration in hospital care.

“They are treated with a lot of antibiotics – double, triple combinations and finally people are hospitalized. COVID-19 is a viral disease and viruses are not treated with antibiotics. Let patients press doctors because technology, because the media has allowed people to enter en masse in the medical profession. The trust in the doctor has been lost, which should not be the case. Don’t watch news, watch statistics, “she said.

There are ways to stop the spread of the virus. Dr. Angelova explained that in order to prevent the virus, we need to strengthen our immune system. Vitamin D-3 and the main antioxidants – vitamins A, C, D, E – help.

“On the first day of the disease, corticosteroids should never be started, as they can confuse everything in the immune system,” said the pulmonologist.

Dr. Angelova’s message to the vaccinated is to continue to follow the measures. Regarding the second group – the survivors – experts are united around the opinion that they have lasting immunity. According to her, in the pre-hospital care there are no patients for the second time, and in the hospital – there are isolated cases.

“My opinion is that I would not vaccinate children. They have immunity, there are studies that they are less infected, and if they become infected, they get sick more easily,” said Dr. Angelova.

She called on people to be responsible and to protect their health.
