The head of the Public Ministry, Margarita Cabello, highlighted the worrying situation of insecurity that the outgoing mayors and governors have made her aware of, who have expressed their discontent at the lack of support and coordination at the national level on public order issues. Cabello Blanco stressed that these complaints are received daily in the entity that she leads.
The attorney general assured that, so far in 2022 and 2023, the Attorney General’s Office has sent a total of 22 requests to the national government, highlighting the critical situation in departments such as Cauca.
“Mayors and governors have expressed to the Attorney General’s Office the permanent insecurity they experience and the lack of coordination and support at the national level on security issues. We have made 22 requests so far last year and this year. “Several have answered them, others have not,” the official assured.
Given this situation, Cabello Blanco announced that the Attorney General’s Office will continue to present requests to the Government, emphasizing the prevailing need to address and solve security problems in various regions of the country.
“We continue to require and begin to make disciplinary transfers to see if there is an omission in the exercise and fulfillment of the function by the authorities in charge of guaranteeing security in the country. This is always addressed to the Minister of Defense directly, he does not respond; We hope that it will also be the Deputy Minister of Veterans (who responds). But the answer does not matter who signs it, what is important is the content,” he assured.
And I add: “And if the content is not adhered to and the insecurity continues, we will continue to complain, demand and make disciplinary transfers so that the corresponding actions are taken within the disciplinary process.”
