Pukkelpop sells out combination tickets in two days: “This is also unprecedented for us”

Festivals

Less than 48 hours after Pukkelpop started ticket sales, all combination tickets have been sold out. Sales of day tickets are also going fast.

On Saturday, March 2, Pukkelpop started selling tickets for the 2024 edition, which will take place this year from August 15 to 18. On Monday morning, March 4, we received the message that all combination tickets have been sold out. The Limburg festival has never sold out all its combination tickets so quickly. “We have to go back to 2014 for the previous fastest time,” says spokesman Frederik Luyten. “The combination tickets were all sold after 11 days. Now we have set a new record time. This is also unprecedented for us.”

The day tickets are also selling well: more than 70 percent have already sold out for Friday, and more than half for Saturday. The rapid sales are also reflected in bookings at campsites, hotel rooms and other accommodation near the festival grounds.

Meer and Fred again..

At Pukkelpop itself, they largely explain the success by the poster: “On Friday the arrival of Fred again will certainly play a role,” says Luyten, “but that doesn’t explain everything, otherwise not all combinations would have been sold out yet. Last year we had a sold out edition and we ended the festival with a very good vibe. People remembered that.”

“I think there were also a number of people who waited too long to buy a ticket last year and now did not want to be surprised,” the spokesperson continues. “In the Netherlands, Lowlands – which takes place on the same weekend – sold out quickly last year, just like this year. A lot of Dutch music lovers came to Kiewit then, and they really liked it.”

More names on the way

So, just like last year, Pukkelpop is heading for a sold-out edition, albeit now at a much faster pace. “I think we are now at a quarter of all the names on the bill. There is a lot more to that,” says Luyten. “So far we have announced 44 names. The total number of bands will be somewhere between 160 and 200.”

Like other festivals, Pukkelpop made prices more expensive this year, but that clearly has no effect on sales. “Life is becoming more expensive, and we therefore also have to adjust our prices. We have worked hard to keep that increase limited. But it now appears that this increase has not stopped visitors from buying a ticket.”
