LOS ANGELES (AP) – Albert Pujols entered the Los Angeles Dodgers’ COVID-19 list on Tuesday, experiencing discomfort after receiving the second dose of the vaccine.
On the same day, Cody Bellinger came off the disabled list after missing eight games due to a broken left rib.
Pujols got the second dose and “it just didn’t feel right,” manager Dave Roberts said. The Dominican will be reviewed this Wednesday to determine his situation.
At 41, Pujols is hitting .255 with 12 homers and 38 RBIs in 82 games since May 17, when he signed with the Dodgers. Shortly before, the Los Angeles Angels had released him.
A three-time National League MVP, Pujols is the fifth-highest home runner in history, with 679 homers. He is 17 behind Alex Rodríguez, who occupies fourth place.
Bellinger is hitting .159 in 89 games. The 2019 National League MVP has nine homers and 34 RBIs this season.
He was not in the starting lineup against San Diego.
