Pugacheva explained why she refused to speak in London

MOSCOW, Feb 20 – RIA News. People’s Artist of the USSR singer Alla Pugacheva told why she refused to participate in London production of the musical “Chess” in 1986, reports mk.ru.–

According to her, rehearsals would take about 11 months, and this would be equated to “flight from the country”, and at home there was a family, relatives. She decided that “I’d better offend my fate abruptly, but I won’t break them.”

At the same time, she noted that now she would not want to play in the production herself.

The world premiere of “Chess” was held in 1986 in London. The music for the film was written by ex-ABBA band members Bjorn Ulveus and Benny Andersson, Tim Rice became the author of the text. The prototypes of the heroes were chess players Anatoly Karpov, Boris Spassky, Victor Korchnoi and Robert Fisher.
