Puerto Rico will debut against Barbados in the Concacaf Under 20 qualifiers

Barbados will be Puerto Rico’s first rival in the CONCACAF 2021 men’s U-20 qualifiers, which will take place from November 5 to 14, 2021 in the Dominican Republic, the Puerto Rican Football Federation reported in a statement.

The event will award semifinalists a ticket to the FIFA U-20 Men’s World Cup Indonesia 2023, and finalists will strike out qualifications for the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics.

For the qualifiers, Puerto Rico will play in Group C against Barbados (November 6), Saint Vincent & the Grenadines (November 8), Monserrate (November 10), and Bermuda (November 14).

Another three groups of five teams each will play in the qualifier.

Puerto Rico would qualify for the U-20 World Cup if they win their Group C, like the other group leaders.

All matches of the U-20 Men’s National Team will have the Félix Sánchez Olympic Stadium in the Dominican capital as their field.

For such an important event, Puerto Rico will start training next month on the island and will play two international friendly matches with the Dominican Republic. The blank matches will be the Sunday, October 10 at 5:00 pm and Wednesday, October 13 at 7:00 pm, both at the José Antonio Figueroa Freyre Stadium in Mayagüez.

The technical director summoned 24 players for training sessions.
