Pueblo de Oro Development Corporation (PDO) has partnered with communities in Batangas, Pampanga, Cebu, and Cagayan de Oro to enhance environmental knowledge and skills within these regions. The project, in line with the Community Solid Waste Management Project, is a collaboration between the ICCP Group and the Coca-Cola Foundation Philippines. PDO’s program aims to equip community members with knowledge and skills to promote inclusive and long-term environmental protection. The project’s first phase included local government unit orientation to aid the development of local legislation governing the proper waste management of communities. PDO has since initiated environmental protection endeavours in various barangays in Batangas, Pampanga, Cebu, and Cagayan de Oro.
The Capacity Building Seminars conducted in the different communities concentrated on household food waste and community solid waste management. Participants in the orientation included barangay chairs and councilors, along with sectors such as the youth, senior citizens, women, and homeowner associations. PDO seeks to enhance environmental protection initiatives within the communities by forming support teams dedicated to work with community representatives.
Since its inception more than 25 years ago, PDO has been promoting eco-friendly living within the Philippines through its flood control and erosion mitigation programs, recycling initiatives, green living spaces, nature reserves, and other environmental conservation projects. PDO’s commitment to the success of the Community Solid Waste Management Project strengthens its commitment to promoting sustainable living, Mother Earth protection, and environmental stewardship.
