The Puchkov tournament started in St. Petersburg – Severstal and Sibir achieved victories on the first game day.

In the third period, Stepanov scored the seventh goal against the guests from the Black Sea coast. The only thing left to count on Dmitry Kokorev’s wards is the puck of prestige. In the first period, the teams exchanged penalties, then Avtomobilist got two more opportunities to practice playing extra, but the Urals created the most dangerous moment when playing five on five. The young striker sent the puck to the goalkeeper’s guard, and Vladimir Butuzov turned out to be the quickest on the rebound and opened the scoring.
Despite the pre-season status, the teams did not deny themselves emotions – and did not always cope with them. Sibir newcomer Andy Andreoff defeated Yegor Baranov in a fistfight, and his partner Alexei Yakovlev got 5 + 20 for hooking. The teams continued to exchange penalties until the final siren – a total of 59 minutes accumulated for two – however, this did not affect the result in any way, even despite the fact that Avtomobilist spent the last 10 seconds in a 6-on-4 format, gaining the majority and replacing Galkin. Sibir started in St. Petersburg with a minimal victory – 1:0.
