The objective of this regulation is to regulate the allocation and subsidy of the infrastructure necessary for the fulfillment and control of the obligations of the Universal Service.
In order to minimize the inequalities that prevent adequate access to telecommunications services, the Bolivarian Government published in Official Gazette No. 42,059 the reform of the regulation, for the benefit of users and operators in order to promote the social and economic development of the nation through telecommunications.
The MGT. Rosa Pacheco, head of the Universal Service Fund Division, indicated that the purpose of the modification of this regulation was to “boost the fund and bring telecommunications services to the most underserved places in Venezuela.”
“This instrument has had arduous months of work with a multidisciplinary team to develop the draft of the standard and the Lists of Geographical Areas and Services where there is a need for telecommunications, so that the Fund can subsidize the cost of the infrastructure for the provision of the telecommunications services ”, he explained.
The reform was consulted digitally with all citizens and debated in a public hearing, before being presented to the National Government for approval and subsequent publication in the Official Gazette.
