Angry tongues may claim that the new customer acquisition is due to the fact that the son of Publicis CEO Matthias Koller plays football at FC Wollishofen. But it is also a fact that the agency from Stadelhoferstrasse in Zurich was able to hold its own against the same in a multi-stage pitch process – on the stairs in front of the club house – without competitors, as stated in a statement.
The result is a contemporary logo that cleverly combines the “F” with the district coat of arms. The creator of the new design, Art Director Anatole Comte, explains: “When redesigning the logo, it was important for us to keep the history of FC Wollishofen and honor traditions. That’s why the old community and current district coat of arms – a symbol of Wollishofen – forms the basis even after the redesign. The most important thing about the new logo is that it immediately creates a connection, a commonality between the viewer, the club and its members and the neighborhood.»
CEO Koller is also very satisfied with the project: “It’s always a great project to be able to design a new brand identity. For the 70th anniversary of FC Wollishofen, I offered a board member to have the somewhat outdated club logo redesigned. Without anything in return, of course, because as the father of a junior I appreciate the club work and the commitment of the trainers and officials of the club enormously. Wollishofen without FC Wollishofen – unthinkable.”
Of course, Michel Korzepa, said board member at FC Wollishofen, is also pleased about that: “When Matthias Koller presented the new logo to us, we were enthusiastic from the very first moment. So ‹simple› and so unbelievably good. On behalf of FC Wollishofen, I would like to thank Matthias Koller and Publicis Zurich for the generous gift on the occasion of our 70th anniversary”. However, the whole thing should not have happened without anything in return.
As attentive observers have noticed, a poster directly under the scoreboard at the Sonnau sports field and an ad in every match booklet have been drawing attention to the services from Stadelhoferstrasse for a short time now – and the Publicis logo itself is even emblazoned on the jerseys of the first team.
The new logo can now be seen on all FC Wollishofen jerseys and on the locally posted match sheets.
