MAJALENGKA, (FC). – The Majalengka District Health Service reminds the public to fully vaccinate infants and children.

Vaccinations are given to these children to provide immunity and resistance against diseases that can harm them.

The Head of the Majalengka Health Office, H. Agus Susanto, explained that vaccination is not only an effective preventive measure but is also considered one of the most effective and cost-effective public health interventions in preventing vaccine preventable diseases (PD3I). .

“Although the vaccination program in Indonesia has achieved several successes, currently there are still children in Indonesia who have not received or have not received the full vaccination,” said Agus Susanto, Wednesday (24/4) .

And he pointed out that data from the World Health Organization (WHO) show that there are still around 20.5 million children around the world, including in Indonesia, who have not received the full vaccination.

Various factors such as availability of vaccines, cold chain management, quality vaccination services, negative aspects of vaccination and lack of public knowledge about the benefits of vaccination are also obstacles in efforts to increase vaccination coverage.

Since 2012, he said, World Immunization Week (WIMW) has been held every year in the fourth week of April with the aim of increasing public awareness of the importance of vaccination and the movement to continue vaccination. in an effort to prevent VPD.

In connection with the implementation of (PID) in 2024, the Head of the Majalengka Health Office said that the national theme is “Complete Immunization, Strong Indonesia” and four sub-themes supporting this activity.

He also said that various PID activities are expected to include non-governmental organizations, universities, professional organizations, religious leaders, community leaders, mass media, the business world and various other parties.

Through this joint effort, it is hoped that it will increase public awareness of the importance of vaccination, correct inaccurate information about vaccination and increase the availability and quality of vaccination services in all regions.

“To achieve this objective, PID activities can be carried out through various Communication, Information and Education (KIE) media such as television and radio talk shows, public service announcements, videotrons and social media,” he explained.

In addition, he continued, direct education to the community, health workers, and parents or families of children is also an important strategy in increasing awareness and access to vaccination.

Meanwhile, for the implementation of PID in Majalengka Regency, PENARI (Week in Immunization Follow-up) activities will be held from April 22 to April 28, 2024 targeting infants (0-11 months), children aged 12-13 months and women of childbearing age.
