Public Transport Suspended in Pissevin and Valdegour: Meeting on September 21 to Find Solutions

Since Tuesday September 12, the Pissevin district in Nîmes has not been served by public transport on the Tango network. A meeting is taking place at the prefecture this Thursday, September 21 in the morning to find a solution.

This Thursday, September 21, trambus and bus drivers of the Tango lines will decide at the end of the day whether or not they will resume services to Pissevin and Valdegour suspended for nine days due to lack of security. Anxiety has spread among the staff since the fatal shootings but also the recurring stones on public transport.

Nasser Mohamedi, representative of the CFDT at Transdev, is awaiting the announcements on Thursday, September 21, in the morning, at the end of the meeting in the prefecture in the presence of representatives of the Nîmes Métropole Agglomerate which has transport competence: “This is not It’s not up to drivers to say what solutions should be provided. We just want to ensure the public transport service in acceptable safety conditions.”

Meeting and visit

Since Tuesday September 12, the Trait d’union, Pissevin, Porte des Arts and Campus stations are no longer served. The Nîmes Métropole Agglomeration thus obtained a meeting at the prefecture on Thursday September 14 to find solutions.

A field visit was organized in the presence of the sub-prefect of the city, the management of the Tango network, the National Police as well as the vice-president of the Agglo delegated for mobility, Jean-Marc Campello.

The elected official, who regrets the absence of unions during the visit to Pissevin, recalls the position of Franck Proust: “The president of Nîmes Métropole understands the anxiety of drivers to work in the conditions and circumstances which have dramatically marked the neighborhoods in recent weeks.” The Agglo “hears the request of users, and in particular parents of students, for a resumption of the public transport service as soon as possible”.

Police presence

This Thursday, the Agglo expects to know from the prefecture the timetable and arrangements for the presence of police officers near the Pissevin stations as well as on the bus and trambus route. Will this be enough to resume service?

“In the event of a problem, a protocol must be put in place so as not to wait until there is a crisis before responding to it,” notes the CFDT of Transdev, whose objective is to ensure service to Pissevin as quickly as possible.
