This Thanksgiving and Black Friday weekend joined with the Comic-Con Special Edition, where visitors will arrive at the San Diego Convention Center to enjoy this event that comes on a smaller scale than its main presentation in summer.
If you will attend this edition or know someone who will, here is information about local transportation that arrives at the San Diego Convention Center
Metropolitan Transit System (MTS): Trolley
Servicio UCSD Blue Line:
This service runs every 7.5 minutes on Fridays between San Ysidro and downtown, every 15 minutes from UTC to downtown. This 15-minute service will operate on Saturdays and Sundays, in addition to a night service every 30 minutes until after 11 pm (UTC) or midnight (San Ysidro).
Blue Line passengers who wish to transfer to the Green Line at 12th & Imperial, Santa Fe Depot or Old Town to reach the Gaslamp Quarter and Convention Center stations.
Green Line:
You can take the Green Line to the Gaslamp Quarter or the Convention Center stations. This leaves every 15 minutes throughout the day, additionally it has service until one hour after the event ends. The 30-minute night service will continue until 10 pm (Santee) or 11 pm (SDSU).
All Green Line trolleys will continue to Santee on Sunday, November 28, 2021.
Orange Line:
This runs every 15 minutes between El Cajon and the center all day, in addition to leaving up to an hour after the event ends each day. It also has a 30-minute night service from downtown until 11:56 pm each night.
Those taking the Orange Line can transfer to the Green Line at 12th & Imperial for service to the Gaslamp Quarter or Convention Center stations.
Parking lot
MTS has free parking service for users at dozens of its Trolley stations and transit centers. Passengers can park their vehicle during the day and take the Trolley to and / or from the event (the only “negative” issue is that there is no overnight parking).
Trolley stations that have ample free parking are:
- Palm Avenue Station (UC San Diego Blue Line)
- El Cajon Transit Center (Green / Orange Line)
- Old Town Transit Center (Green Line)
- Bayfront / E Street Station (UC San Diego Blue Line)
- Massachusetts Avenue Station (Orange Line)
