As a result of the judicial situation faced by Mayor Juan Ramón Godoy, and of which public opinion has become aware today, the Municipality of Rancagua informs:
-From this moment on, and as established by Law 18,695, he will be substituted in his duties by the current official who follows him in order of hierarchy within the Municipality, in this case, by the Municipal Administrator.
-The law establishes that subrogation will also include the judicial and extrajudicial representation of the Municipality, and the right to attend its sessions only with the right to speak, with the exception of protocol representation.
-While the subrogation proceeds, the presidency of the Municipal Council will be exercised by the councilor present who has obtained the largest citizen vote in the respective municipal election.
-Meanwhile, the councilor with the highest vote in the municipal election will be responsible for formally representing the Municipality in activities or ceremonies.
-Once the Municipality of Rancagua has been formally notified of the precautionary measures decreed, which as a consequence cause an impediment to the exercise of the position of titular mayor, the process will begin to elect a substitute mayor in accordance with the provisions of the Organic Law. Constitution of Municipalities.
-Therefore, within the next few days, the Municipal Council must call an extraordinary session for such purposes.
-We want to inform the Rancagüina community that municipal services will continue to function normally, ensuring their continuity, which to date have been provided with the usual efficiency of municipal officials.
-The Municipality of Rancagua, as has been the case to date, will continue to cooperate in everything that is required during the processing of this judicial case.
