Public Safety Officer: Duties and Responsibilities

* For parking surveillance and control:
o Control and enforce the regulations relating to stopping and annoying and very inconvenient parking,
o Establish liaison with the municipal police for kidnappings upon requisition.
* As part of security missions around schools:
o Secure the entrances/exits of school groups (rotational presence).
* For the surveillance of parks and gardens, fairground markets:
o Ensure a rotating presence in the community’s parks and gardens and during fairground markets.
* As part of the video protection system operator missions:
o Use and master the video operating system,
o Detect significant events,
o Videograph offenses,
o Analyze the information and relay it to the relevant services,
o Extract recorded images upon request,
o View images recorded within the legal framework,
o Report breakdowns to the competent contacts,
o Write summary documents (handbook, report).
* For the health and environment of the public domain:
o Monitor and enforce regulations relating to the cleanliness of roads and public spaces: municipal and prefectural decrees, departmental health regulations.
* For information and intelligence missions:
o Inform the hierarchy of notable events,
o Inform users on public roads and/or relay to the competent city services,
o Contribute to the systems put in place for festivals and ceremonies,
o Identify all malfunctions in urban public facilities (roads, furniture via the “Grand Lyon files”, calls to the post office, etc.).
* As part of the mission to observe signs bearing municipal parking ban decrees (temporary mission):
o Note the presence of signs to enable the application of municipal by-laws prohibiting parking.

Job constraints:
* Shift from Monday to Saturday included
* Wearing specific clothing identifying the service
* Presence on public roads: bad weather, walking
* Work possible in the evenings, weekends and public holidays (notably July 13 and 14 and December 31)

Specific means held:
* Electronic PV management device
* Radio portative
* Swearing – approval

Working hours :
* Work from Monday to Saturday with an hourly rotation every other week
– 7h30 – 14h56
– 12h00 – 19h26
* Weekly rest on Sunday + one rotating day during the week
