Public restrooms reopen at 9 subway stations – NBC New York (47)

NEW YORK — Finding a bathroom in New York City can be quite an adventure for those who visit or just reside there.

The good news is that 18 restrooms in nine busy subway stations in the Big Apple reopened on Monday for the first time since the pandemic began.

It’s been nearly three years since the MTA closed public restrooms in response to the overwhelming health emergency that hit the Big Apple and the rest of the world.

The MTA said each restroom, one for women and one for men, has received a makeover and will be open 7am to 7pm daily, closing for an hour at noon each day for cleaning. .

Here’s where you can find the open bathrooms:

  • The Bronx: 161 St-Yankee Stadium (B/D), East 180 St (2/5)
  • Brooklyn: Jay St-MetroTech (A/C/F), Kings Road (B/D)
  • Manhattan: 14 St-Union Sq (4/5/6), Fulton St (B.C), 42 St–Bryant Park (YES/RE/FA/MI)
  • Queens: Jackson Hts–Roosevelt Av (MI/FA/M/R), Forest Hills – 71 Ave (MI/FA/M/R)

Bathroom improvements included new motion-activated faucets, new coats of paint, and new towels, among other cosmetic improvements.

“When customers need to be on the go, we now have them covered at select stations,” New York City Transit President Richard Davey said in a news release.
