The General Director Cdora. Marisa Tojo from the General Directorate of Purchasing and Contracting of the Ministry of Treasury and Finance participated on May 9 in the Policy Brief “Public procurement with a gender perspective. Advances and challenges in Latin America to boost companies led by women as a driving force of the post-COVID-19 recovery”. It was led by UN Women of Latin America and the Caribbean.
The study identifies the main barriers that women face when competing in public tenders and collects some examples of good practices to operationalize the inclusion of women in public procurement and contracting in LAC.
It also offers recommendations to take advantage of the power of State purchases, as an opportunity to respond to the economic and social crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and its special impact on women, and to advocate for a sustainable recovery.
The DGCyC was considered an example of good practices in public procurement with a gender perspective and presented the progress and challenges related to the “Seal Empresa Mujer”, a program led by the DGCyC to promote the economic empowerment of women and promote public procurement. with a gender perspective.
