According to the mayor the purpose of his administration, after the modernization of the health sector in the last 12 years, is to strengthen preventive medicine, one of the lessons of the COVID-19 pandemic, to detect patients with comorbidities that may pose risks to their lives in time.

The hospital was the first healthcare center that the city had, built between 1871 and 1876. Next to this work, the Sena Salud was recently built.
