The Ministry of Public Health (MSP) issued a statement this Monday in which they disclosed a situation that a nursing baby experienced (a stage that goes from the first 28 days of birth to two years) who, by mistake, received a vaccine that did not correspond. In this regard, the statement indicates that “immediately” the corresponding actions were carried out to ensure his health.
“According to the clinical and paraclinical evaluations, he is in good health. Corresponding administrative and judicial measures were also taken, ”said the Secretary of State in a statement issued through its Twitter account.
Sources from the public health portfolio explained that this erroneous vaccine was administered within the framework of the normal vaccination plan that a child has at that age.
Regarding the administrative measures that were taken, they did not confirm what they did with the official who administered the vaccine, but they do confirm that the procedure in general and the ways in which it was carried out are being evaluated. It is investigated who took part in the operation and to whom responsibility is adjudged.
Regarding judicial measures, the MPS indicated to Montevideo Portal that reported the situation to the Attorney General’s Office with the simple objective of giving knowledge of the situation in case there are adverse effects on the child. At the moment, the Secretary of State indicated that there are no consequences in this area since the child is in good health.
