PUBG will be free to play

Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds – also known as PUBG, PUBG: Battlegrounds or Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds: Battlegrounds – should no longer cost you money to pick up. From 12 January 2022, the battle royale game will be transferred to the so-called “free to play” model, which means that it will be free for everyone to get involved in the battles.

Via their websites explains developer PUBG Corp. that the game is divided into two editions. It will be the free version PUBG: Battlegrounds and the payment variant PUBG Plus, which will cost 13 dollars to pick up.

While the free version gives you access to regular battle royale matches, PUBG Plus opens up a ranked mode, earning experience points for weapons and playing player-created matches with its own rules.

Everyone who already owns PUBG is upgraded to PUBG Plus at no extra cost when the transition takes place. In addition, the developer hands out various cosmetics, as a thank you to those who supported the game since its launch in 2017.
