I myself thought that all panels were always 50hz and 60hz and that depending on the country in which they are sold, the specsheet shows 50hz (Europe) or 60hz (America, parts of Asia). Because we’re coming here from PAL, which was 25 / 50hz and America was using 30hz / 60hz with NTSC, and that’s why we’re getting all those annoying confusing specs.
Consoles etc. are designed in America and Asia where 60hz / fps is normal and these are not translated to European standards. Techniques such as HDMI therefore only speak in 30, 60 and 120hz. Actually, now that we no longer do anything with PAL in Europe, we should let go of all this misery, because it only creates unnecessary confusion.
I could be wrong, that some TV’s refuse to do 60hz and only do 50hz, that should cause stutter / judder in the picture and I have not discovered that myself on any TV if I put a 60hz signal in.
