On March 23, 2017, PUBG made its Steam Early Access debut. The battle royale with 65 million copies sold on PC, PS4 and Xbox One is now celebrating its third anniversary, an opportunity for developers to look back on the past year and talk about what is happening in 2020.
“We saw 2019 as a year of setting up a foundation for PUBG”, presents PUBG Corp. in this blog post. A year during which the developers have notably reworked the Erangel card and brought the weapons control system as well as gameplay improvements (ping system, taking ledges …). They will continue this momentum in the future:
We want to keep improving what has made the game so popular for the past 3 years. This will include card refinements, as well as new cards, new weapons and mechanics, additional game options such as the Team Deathmatch (recently added with update 6.2), and of course quality improvements. life and bug fixes for some of your most pressing issues. PUBG has come a long way since March 2017 and we fully understand that there is still a lot to do, but it is thanks to all of you that we were able to take our little game and make it one of the biggest of all time. We know that such a success implies a responsibility towards all of you and we are working hard again this year to do better.
It is first the Vikendi card, withdrawn at the start of season 6, which will return soon with several modifications, including the addition of moving trains and a larger DinoPark. You can preview it here. Finally, the developers announced the winners of the first community skin design competition. The objects are included in the 3rd anniversary box, to be collected free of charge from the in-game store on PC (before April 23) or automatically retrieve when you first connect to the game on consoles (before April 25).
