Puan Maharani’s Difficult Mission To Get Electability Through Billboards

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

Chairman of the DPR who is also a PDIP official Mrs. Maharani it is still considered difficult to achieve high electability even though many billboards are installed in various regions. Puan is considered difficult to increase the level of electability or electability as a presidential or vice-presidential candidate in Indonesia 2024 presidential election.

Director of Indonesian Political Parameters Adi Prayitno considers that Puan’s mission to install billboards in various locations will only have a small effect on electability. It may not even be felt.

“It seems that the billboards are only targeting empty spaces,” said Adi when contacted CNN Indonesia.with, Thursday (5/8).

Adi said that Puan’s position would not move much if no breakthrough was made towards 2024. Instead of putting up billboards, he considered that Megawati Soekarnoputri’s daughter should use the chair of the DPR to boost electability.

“For example [Puan] ask [anggota] DPR donates 80 percent of its salary to those affected [pandemi covid-19]. Wow, it will increase electability,” he said giving an example.

In terms of internal power within the PDIP, Adi understands that Puan’s position as Princess Megawati is quite strong. However, Soekarno’s breed factor will not help Puan much on the stage of the presidential election.

He explained that the public is more interested in a figure who is considered attractive in character and achievements to be elected as the leader of the country. According to Adi, Puan does not have this.

“When we became coordinating minister for PMK, we almost never heard of what Puan did. Even though it was a strategic position and was in direct contact with the people. Currently, Puan’s position as Chair of the DPR, we have never seen a breakthrough,” said Adi.

Adi assessed that there was a lot of homework that Puan needed to do to pursue electability, which was far behind her opponents such as Ganjar Pranowo, Prabowo Subianto, Sandiaga Uno, or Ridwan Kamil.

This can be seen from a number of electability survey results conducted by several survey institutions. The Saiful Mujani Research and Consulting Institute in April noted that Puan’s electability was only 1.7 percent.

While Prabowo is in the top position with 20.8 percent. Followed by Anies Baswedan with 13.1 percent and Ganjar with 12 percent.

Then the Voxpol Center in July stated that Ganjar had the highest electability with 19.2 percent. Followed by Prabowo 18.9 percent and Anies 14.1 percent. Puan’s electability is only 1.3 percent in 10th position.

In June, the Indonesian Survey Flow (ASI) stated that Prabowo’s electability was the highest with 12.5 percent. Then Ganjar 11.3 percent and Anies 9.3 percent. Puan was again in 10th position with 2.3 percent.

Political observer from Al-Azhar University, Ujang Komarudin, has the same opinion. He considered that the seat of DPR chairman Puan was actually a strong weapon to target the position of a presidential or vice-presidential candidate.

It even exceeds the positions of ministers and governors that other opponents carry. However, this only applies if Puan is good at capitalizing her position to get people’s attention.

“The problem is that yesterday and yesterday, his position was not for the benefit of the public. That’s what made his electability low. Since he has been chairman of the DPR, he has always followed the government,” Ujang told CNNIndonesia.com.
