Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – PT Pertamina (Persero) has officially adjusted the price of non-subsidized fuel oil (BBM) starting today, Sunday, October 1 2023. There are at least five types of fuel that have experienced price increases, including Pertamax, Pertamax Turbo, Dexlite, Pertamina Dex, and Pertamax Green 95.

For example, the price of Pertamina’s non-subsidized fuel in DKI Jakarta. The price of Pertamax fuel starting October 1 is IDR 14,000 or an increase compared to the September period of IDR 13,300 per liter.

Meanwhile, Pertamax Turbo also increased to IDR 16,600 per liter from the previous IDR 15,900 per liter. The price of Dexlite as of October 1 2023 has also increased from IDR 16,350 per liter to IDR 17,200 per liter.

The price of Pertamina DEX also increased from IDR 16,900 per liter to IDR 17,900 per liter. Lastly, Pertamax Green 95 from IDR 15,000 per liter to IDR 16,000 per liter.

So what is Pertamina’s reason for increasing the price of non-subsidized fuel?

Corporate Secretary of PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Irto Ginting explained that the periodic adjustments and determination of fuel prices for General Fuel Type (JBU) or non-subsidized fuel refer to Government regulations, namely the Decree of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Number 245.K/MG.01/MEM.M/2022 concerning Basic Price Formula in Calculating Retail Selling Prices for General Types of Fuel and Diesel Oil.

“The price adjustment refers to the average MOPS (Means of Platts Singapore) in the period 25 August 2023 to 24 September 2023. This new price applies to provinces with a motor vehicle fuel tax (PBBKB) of 5%, such as in the DKI Jakarta area ,” he explained, Sunday (1/10/2023).

However, he confirmed that fuel prices at Pertamina gas stations were still competitive compared to fuel prices at other private gas stations.

“Pertamina product prices are still competitive compared to other companies for products of equal quality and these prices have met the upper limit provisions for the October 2023 period set for each type of fuel,” he added.

Meanwhile, he claims that the non-subsidized fuel price adjustment was implemented to ensure the availability of fuel in the country.

“Pertamina’s fuel price changes take into account various aspects, including MOPS/Argus published price trends and the exchange rate, so that it can ensure the continuity of fuel supply and distribution to all corners of the country,” he said.

The following are Pertamina fuel prices (Jabodetabek) as of October 1 2023:

– Pertalite: IDR 10,000 per liter

– Pertamax: IDR 14,000 per liter
